Our Curriculum

At Northbourne Church of England Primary School, our aim is to provide a values-based, broad and balanced curriculum, that embraces our unique rural setting, and raises standards for all our learners.

As a proud Church of England school, our caring Christian environment and our school values underpin our school curriculum. Our Christian Values and our Learning Values, enable our pupils to grow and develop.

As a values-based school, we know it is essential to teach our key values in order for our children to grow as young people and ready them for life beyond Northbourne. Our curriculum is delivered to provide our pupils with every opportunity possible to develop within our values. We celebrate and champion these values everyday throughout our curriculum experiences.

Our intent is for our values-based education to enrich all areas of the curriculum, enhance the positive and supportive atmosphere in school and improve personal development.

We want all children to be able to reach their own individual potential and build upon their strengths, helping them to achieve and succeed in their education. We use the National Curriculum as the foundation for our learning and we use engaging topics to develop pupils' skills, knowledge and understanding. Our school wide themes provide cross curricular opportunities and experiences that provide memorable and exciting learning opportunities.

We promote positive mental health and well-being to help our children develop social and emotional skills. Our much loved Forest School environment provides opportunities for mindfulness and value led learning, alongside our use of the PSHE JIGSAW programme and our celebration of sporting resilience.

You can access information about our curriculum subjects using the links on this page, together with the Whole Year Curriculum Long Term Plans (LTP) for each class below. For further information regarding our curriculum, please contact the school office.

Northbourne CEP School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all Governors, staff, volunteers, parents and carers to share this commitment.
