School of the Week - this week on Radio Kent
At 2.30 pm every day this week on Radio Kent pupils from our school will be talking with Pat Marsh.
Each class has voted for their favourite tune which will be played on the radio as well as being interviewed by Pat Marsh. If you are unable to tune in at this time, the recording can also be heard online. Well done to Luke Bell in class 5/6, Morgan Parkinson in class 4/5, Honey Hilton in class 3/4, Mufti Richardson in class 1/2 and Alex-Finn-Holden in class R/1 for being chosen to talk on behalf of their classes this week.

Kinball training
By popular demand, all our juniors will be taught how to play a new competitive ball game called Kinball. Our SSCo Ian Hall will be teaching the children this enjoyable and skilful game today, which involves teamwork, balance and dexterity with a very large ball named a Kinball.

Parents meeting
Tonight at 7 pm in the School Hall we welcome all parents and carers to a parents meeting session.
Here, governors will be available to answer parent questions regarding the move from five to four classes. We look forward to seeing you at this informal session.

Multi-Skills training
Vista Leisure will continue to provide professional tuition of ball skills for all our Infants this term on Friday afternoons. Please can we ask that parents ensure children have their P.E. kits in school so
that they can take part in these Multi-Skills sessions. Thank you.

Gifted and Talented pupils from Sir Roger Manwood's
Gifted and talented pupils from Sir Roger Manwood's school will be providing a demonstration of their talents to all children and will then follow this by holding workshops with all our junior classes.
The children will have the opportunity to ask the students about their skills as well as taking part in the activities to be organised.

Road Safety Presentation
To raise children's awareness of the potential hazards surrounding crossing the road safely and how to become more road safety conscious the Smart Brothers will be performing a show to the Whole School. We hope that all the children will benefit from this safety performance and learn how to
Become more aware of any potential risks to themselves.

World Maths and World Book Days
We will be celebrating both of these worldwide events in school. If you would like to find out more about either of these days please google www.worldbookday or www.worldmathsday. Nearer the time we will inform all parents of the events we will take part in at school. World Book Day vouchers will be distributed to every child as well.

Cross- country events
As we enter the cross-country sporting season we will be entering teams to take part in two local events taking place at Dover College and Northbourne Park. A separate letter will be sent out regarding this.

W.O.W Day (Walk On Wednesday)
Back by popular demand is another Walk On Wednesday. This term this will take place on
Wednesday, 17th March at 8.30 am from St Augustine's church. It was lovely to see children, parents, governors and staff take part in our last W.O.W day last term despite the cold weather.

Parent's evenings
Parent consultation meetings will take place with your child's class teacher this term. We have organised a free mobile crèche facility for both sessions along with free Whole School Meal taster opportunities. A separate letter will be sent home to request appointment slots for you shortly.

Teaching awards
We all know there are inspirational people working in schools to help change lives for the better.
Help us celebrate their achievements and reward their dedication by nominating Kents unsung heroes for a National Teaching Award.
Founded by Lord Puttnam CBE in 1998, the Teaching Awards is an annual celebration of teaching and learning with a UK final televised on BBC2 every October.
Anyone can nominate and say 'thank you' whether you are a pupil, parent, colleague or friend. You can nominate headteachers, teaching assistants, school governors, teachers as well as school teams.
Kent's Dan Walton, a maths teacher from St. John's Catholic Comprehsive School, Gravesend won the UK title of Teacher of the Year in a Secondary School 2009.
Teachers make it happen, say thank you and nominate now at www.teachingawards.com. The
closing date for South East nominations is 1st March 2010.

Easter activities
All children will be given the opportunity to design their own individual bonnet for our popular Easter Bonnet parade. Parents are invited to watch this parade of creative designs.
Prizes will be awarded for the best bonnet in every class.

Easter egg hunts will also take place in every class. Please inform us if your child has any food allergies.

Our lower junior classes: 3/4 and 4/5 will be performing an Easter production called 'Good News'at the end of this term. Tickets for this show are 50p and can be purchased from the School Office.

We will also be holding a traditional Easter Service at St Augustine's Church.

We hope that all the children will enjoy the variety of events and performances organised for them this term and that you will be able to come along and support them too.

If you have any questions or queries regarding your child, please do not hesitate to make an appointment to see your child's class teacher or myself.
